We envision the Richland Center Area as a Model Community, a place where all citizens can participate in business, social events, civic activities and recreation. A Model Community provides choices for its citizens through successful development and inclusive policymaking.

The people funding the “Rich in Community Project” feel that the Richland Center area is an ideal place to show that including everyone benefits the entire community.

All people deserve the opportunity to participate fully in the community in which they live. In doing so, they contribute their skills, knowledge and economic resources to the community. Every community needs all of its citizens to power its economy, to contribute innovative ideas and creative solutions, and to strengthen its institutions and associations.

The Model Community project in the Richland Center area has been named
“Rich in Community” to emphasize our wealth in resources and community spirit.

Some U.S. Census statistics:

17.3% of the population or 2,895 people, in our county (ages five and above), are people with disabilities.

345 are between the ages of five and twenty. 1,392 are between the ages of 21 and 64. Of these 59.1% are employed.

Special Thanks to the Rich in Community Steering Committee and the members of People First of Richland County.
