Richland Center Area
Independent
Living Resources

Julie and
LeRoy met as young children. They lived at a state
institution. After time they moved home to live with their
families. They remembered what good friends they had been, in
fact, Julie says they were always in love. With encouragement
from family and friends they are now married and have their
own apartment close to the hospital where Julie has worked for
over 30 years. LeRoy enjoys visiting with everyone at a local
gathering spot. They are active volunteers
in the community. They are happy and they are needed!

The Richland
Center Area is a model for volunteerism, history, hospitality
and rural charm. Community supported efforts include
G.R.A.C.E.,
Star Spangled Celebration,
WI HS Rodeo, A Child’s
Place, and the
Richland County Fair. These are efforts that
depend on the talents of everyone in our community.
Thriving communities, welcome everyone!
Local buildings and programs welcome everyone.
Local stores welcome everyone.
All citizens participate in community life.
All people have access to jobs.
Community members are connected to volunteer, social, and
recreational activities.
All people are valued.
How do you feel when you have contributed your time or
talent to a community effort?

All people
deserve the opportunity to participate fully in the community.
They contribute their skills, knowledge and economic resources
to the community. Communities need
all of their citizens to power the economy, contribute
innovative ideas, and strengthen institutions and associations.
The “Model
Community” project in the Richland Center Area has been named
“Rich in Community” to emphasize our wealth of resources and
community spirit.
